This is the setup page from your Linksys WET11v2 router.

You are taken to a page like the one you see here. Scroll down until you come to the Wireless section.

Enter the name you want to use for your internet in the SSID box. This name is used as an identifier. It doesn't matter what you enter here but we recommend avoiding personal information. Learn more in our Wireless Names Guide.

Next is the Network Type. The choices are Infrastructure or Ad-Hoc. We recommend choosing infrastructure.

If you chose Ad-Hoc you will need to choose a Channel. Pick from channels 1,6, and 11. To learn why read our WiFi Channels Guide.

The only security this router offers is WEP. Do not use WEP, it is an extremely weak form of security. We recommend updating your firmware version to allow for WPA2-PSK. Read our WEP vs. WPA guide for more information.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
