Here I will show you how to properly reset the Linksys WPS11 router.

There is a big difference between resetting a router and rebooting a router. In this guide when I refer to a reset I am talking about a full factory restore of all settings. When I refer to a reboot I am talking about a simple cycle in the power to the unit.

Warning: Resetting a router erases all your previously changed settings. I strongly recommend trying other methods of troubleshooting before you continue. I also suggest making a list of all the settings you may of changed in the past. These include:

  • The print servers main username and password.
  • The wireless settings.
  • If this is a DSL device you need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password.
  • What other settings were changed? How about port forwards or IP addresses?

Warning: DO NOT unplug this router while the reset is being done. If you do you may end up permanently damaging your router.

Don't forget a reset like this one erases every single setting you have ever changed in the history of the device. Please consider other methods before you continue with this reset.
