  • We recommend using the 2.4GHz Wireless Band.
  • Below that is the Network Mode. We recommend leaving this at the default setting of Mixed.

  • Use the Channel Width to choose Auto.
  • If you are now asked for a Wide Channel number, we recommend choosing the number 6 from the menu. Then in the Channel menu, choose either 1 or 11. If you are interested in knowing why this is what we recommend, read our WiFi Channels Guide.
  • That's it, just click the blue Save Settings button near the bottom of the page.

  • The other thing that needs to be changed is the Passphrase. This is the password you type into the wireless device you want to connect to your network. It is recommended that you create a strong password of at least 14-20 characters. You should also include at least one symbol, number, and capital letter. Learn more in our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
  • Click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.

That's it, you're done!

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
