Setup WiFi on the Mecer E5104N2

Login To The Mecer E5104N2

Find the WiFi Settings on the Mecer E5104N2

The WiFi guide begins on the ADSL Router Status page of the Mecer E5104N2. From there, click the option at the top of the page labeled Wireless. Then under that choose Basic Settings.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Mecer E5104N2

The first setting that needs to be changed is titled SSID. This is the name you give your network so you can identify it when needed. It's not important what you enter here but we suggest avoiding personal information. To learn more about this topic, read our Wireless Names Guide.

Now scroll down to the Channel Number and make sure you are using channels 1,6, or 11. These three channels are important to use, find out why in our WiFi Channels Guide.

That's it for this page, click the Apply Changes button. Then click the option at the top of the page labeled Wireless, then Security under that.

On this new page, find the drop down list titled Encryption and select the option of WPA2 (AES). This is the most secure option for home networks, to learn more read our WEP vs. WPA guide.

Now skip down to the setting titled WPA Authentication Mode. You need to set this to Personal (Pre-Shared Key).

The Pre-Shared Key Format should be set to Passphrase.

Finally, enter a new Pre-Shared Key. This needs to be between 8 to 63 characters but we recommend at least 14. For strength try and use at least one symbol, number, and capital letter in your new password. Read our Choosing a Strong Password Guide for more information.

That's it, just click the Apply Changes button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
