Setup WiFi on the Motorola MR1900ac

The Motorola MR1900ac router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Motorola MR1900ac

Find the WiFi Settings on the Motorola MR1900ac

If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.

After you have logged into the Motorola MR1900ac router you should see a page like the one above. Click the option at the top of the page labeled WIFI.

You should now see a list of links towards the left side of the page. Int this left sidebar click either 2.4GHz Wireless or 5Ghz Wireless

Choose 2.4GHz Wireless if you need a larger wireless range.

Choose 5GHz Wireless if you need a smaller wireless range.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Motorola MR1900ac

You should then be taken to either the 2.4GHz Wireless page or the 5GHz Wireless page.

On this page we will discuss three of the settings:

  • The SSID: This is the name you give your network so you can recognize it later. Go ahead and give your network a new name, but avoid personal data. Learn more on our Change your Wireless Name page.
  • The Encryption: For the best encryption we recommend using WPA2 Personal (PSK+CCMP). Learn what this is and your other options in our WEP vs. WPA guide.
  • The Key: This is the Internet password. Create a strong password here of at least 10 characters. This needs to include symbols, numbers, and letters (both upper and lowercase). Learn more on our Creating a Strong Password page.

That's it, don't forget to save your changes before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
