Setup WiFi on the Netcomm NP805N 11n

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Netcomm NP805N 11n

Once you have logged into the NetComm NP805N-11n you begin on the Status page. If you are not on the page you see above, then you may need to click the link near the bottom labeled Switch to advanced view.

From here, click the option at the top of the page labeled Network Setup.

Then tick Wireless.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netcomm NP805N 11n

This takes you to a page like the one seen above.

  1. Use the Network ID(SSID) to enter a new network name. It really doesn't matter what you enter here but we recommend avoiding personal data such as names or numbers associated with your household. Learn more about the SSID in our guide titled How to Change your Wireless Name.
  2. The next setting that needs to be changed is titled Channel. Everyone should use either channel 1,6, or 11. Learn why in our guide titled WiFi Channels.
  3. Use the Authentication drop-down list to choose the most secure option of WPA2-PSK. If you want to know why this is the best choice, read our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.
  4. The last thing that needs to be changed is the Pre-shared Key. This is the password for your network. It is important to keep this password strong. The more random this password looks, the stronger it becomes. We recommend using a minimum of 14 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.   5. Click the Save button.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
