First, you need to enter a new Name(SSID). This name is how you identify your network. Enter anything you like here but avoid personal information. For more information, read our Wireless Names Guide.

Next is the Channel. Everyone needs to be using channels 1,6, or 11. Learn why in our WiFi Channels Guide.

Now skip down to the section titled Security Options. For the best security offered, click the radio dot labeled WPA2-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 Pre-Shared Key). To learn how this is superior to the other options, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

The last setting that needs to addressed is the Security Encryption (WPA2-PSK) Passphrase. This is the password for your network. Create a strong password of at least 14-20 characters using a mix of numbers, letters, and symbols. Learn more tips in our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

That's it, just don't forget to click the Apply button to save your changes.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
