This wireless guide begins on the Basic Settings page of the Netgear DGN2200-64 router. Go to the dark blue sidebar on the left and click the link titled Wireless Settings under Setup.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear DGN2200-64

This brings you to the page you see here. The four settings that need to be changed are the:

  • Name(SSID) - This is the name you create to identify your network later on. It doesn't really matter what you enter here but we recommend avoiding personal information.
  • Channel - Change the channel to 1,6, or 11.
  • Security Options - The best option is WPA2-PSK (AES).
  • Passphrase - This is the password to your network. Create a password of at least 14-20 characters.

That's it, just don't forget to Apply your changes.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
