Setup WiFi on the Netgear DGN2200B

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Netgear DGN2200B

Find the WiFi Settings on the Netgear DGN2200B

We begin on the Router Status page of the Netgear DGN2200B. The change the wireless settings click the option of Wireless Settings in the left sidebar under Setup.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear DGN2200B

There are four settings on this page that really need to be changed. The first is titled Name(SSID). This is your network's ID. It's not important what you enter here but it's a good idea to avoid personal information. Learn more about the SSID in our Wireless Names Guide.

The next setting is called the Channel. Everyone should be using channels 1,6, or 11. Find out why in our WiFi Channels Guide.

Now skip down to the Security Options. The most secure option available right now is WPA2-PSK (AES). Learn all about it in our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Finally, the last setting is the Passphrase. This is the password you use for your network. We highly recommend creating a strong password of at least 14-20 characters. We have a great guide covering this titled Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
