Setup WiFi on the Netgear MBR1210

The Netgear MBR1210 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

WiFi Terms

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Netgear MBR1210

Find the WiFi Settings on the Netgear MBR1210

To start, click the Wireless Settings option on the left hand side of the page under the heading of Setup.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear MBR1210

On this new page, you will need to look at four things.

To start, change the Name (SSID). This is your WiFi identification. It doesn't really matter what you enter here, but it's a good idea not to use any personal information. To learn more, check out our Wireless Names Guide.

After that, check the Channel. Make sure you are either on channels 1, 6, or 11. To find out why this is important, click this link.

Next, make sure your Security Options is set to WPA2-PSK [AES]. To learn more about this, check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

The final thing you need to do is set your Passphrase. We recommend using at least 14-20 characters. Want to know more on how to create a strong password? Check out our guide.

Finally, click Apply. You're finished!

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
