Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear R6700
You should be taken to the page shown above.
We'll only be making changes in the Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/) section of the page.
Start out by setting a Name (SSID). This will be your network identification and can be whatever you like. However, due to security reasons we strongly recommend avoiding any personal information. For more help be sure to take a look through our Wireless Names Guide.
After that you'll want to open the drop down list labeled Channel and set it to either 1, 6, or 11. Want to know why these are the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide.
Next you'll want to set the Security Options to WPA2-PSK [AES]. This will provide you with the strongest security available. Why? Check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide to learn more.
Lastly you'll want to set a Password (Network Key). This will protect your wireless network, and can be anything you want it to be. However keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. For more help be sure to visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
That's it! You're done. Just don't forget to click Apply before leaving the page.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
