This is the reset guide for the Netgear VMDG280 router. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Every time your router loses power it reboots. A Router Reset completely erases the router and returns it to factory settings.
Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. When you reset your router, the following will happen.
- The router's login and password are reset.
- All WiFi settings are reset, including network name and password.
- Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
- Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.
A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. Before you reset your router, you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Recover Password in Netgear VMDG280

Just keep in mind that a router reset should be done as the last resort when you are unable to login to your router.
Reset the Netgear VMDG280
There is usually a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look for something that looks like this:
Your reset button may look different, but usually they are very small. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.
Watch the front panel lights while you hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds. The blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router should change when the reset is complete. Do not worry about holding the button down too long; this is harmless.
Remember, this will erase everything you have previously done to this Netgear VMDG280 router.

Login to the Netgear VMDG280

Change Your Password

Tip: Write your new password down on a post-it note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
