WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name

Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption

Login To The Netgear WPN802v2
To get started configuring the Netgear WPN802v2 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Netgear WPN802v2
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
Let's start on the Basic Settings page of the Netgear WPN802v2 router. To setup the WiFi section, click the option in the left sidebar labeled Wireless Settings. This is found under the main heading of Setup.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear WPN802v2
You are now on the correct page of the Netgear WPN802v2. Place your cursor in the box labeled Wireless Network Name(SSID) and create a new name for your your network. This name acts as your identification and should be unique. While it doesn't matter what you enter here, it is a good idea to avoid personal information.
The next setting to check is called the Channel/Frequency. Make sure you are using channels 1,6, or 11.
Now click Apply near the bottom of the page.
There is one more page to visit. Click the option of WEP/WPA Settings in the left sidebar.
This takes you to the page you see above. First, use the Network Authentication drop down box to choose the option of WPA2-PSK.
Now choose AES for the Data Encryption.
The last setting that needs to be addressed is titled Passphrase. This is the network password and should be as strong as possible. It's a good idea to use at least 14 characters with some symbols, numbers, and capital letters mixed in.
When you are finished, click the Apply button to save your changes.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
