Setup WiFi on the Nokia-Siemens Residential-Router-1600

Login To The Nokia-Siemens Residential-Router-1600

This wireless setup guide starts on the Device Info page of the Nokia-Siemens Residential-Router-1600. Click the option on the left side of the page labeled Wireless at the top. Then choose the option titled Basic.

Unfortunately we don't have the screenshot for that page but all you need to do on that page is locate the space titled SSID and enter the network name you wish to use for your wireless connection. Change the WiFi Settings on the Nokia-Siemens Residential-Router-1600

Start by making sure that the Enable WSC is set to Disabled. This is the same thing as WPS, and to learn why it's a bad option, take a look at our What is WPS Guide.

Now scroll down until you come to the Manual Setup AP heading.

Open the drop down list labeled Select SSID and choose the SSID you just created.

After that, set the Network Authentication to WPA2 -PSK. This will provide you with the strongest security. Why? Read our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.

Next, enter your desired network password into the box labeled WPA Pre-Shared Key. This can be anything you like, however a strong password consists of 14-20 characters and contains no personal information. For more help, check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Lastly, be sure that the WPA Encryption is set to AES.

Congratulations! You're finished. Just be sure to click Save/Apply.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
