The Siemens SL2-141 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
To get started configuring the Siemens SL2-141 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.
To login to the Siemens SL2-141, follow our Siemens SL2-141 Login Guide.
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
Once you have finished logging into the Siemens SL2-141 you should begin on the Device Info page. Begin by selecting the option in the left sidebar titled Wireless. Then beneath that be sure Basic is chosen.
You should now be on a page like the one you see here. First use the space titled SSID to create a unique name for your network ID. This name can be anything you like, but our advise is to avoid personal information. Click this link for the guide on this topic.
That's it, just click the Save/Apply option.
Back in the left sidebar click the option of Security.
Once on the page you see above, make sure to pick the SSID you just created from the drop-down list titled Select SSID.
Set the Network Authentication to WPA2-PSK for the strongest form of security available. To learn more, click this link.
The last setting that you should change is titled WPA Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use to access your internet. Our recommendation is to use a minimum of 14 characters and don't forget to use some symbols, numbers, and capital letters. For more ideas, click this link.
Your network is much more secure now, go ahead and click the Save/Apply options before you exit.
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
