WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.
Wireless Password
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The Sitecom X4 N300
To get started configuring the Sitecom X4 N300 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Sitecom X4 N300
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
Let's start this guide on the System Status page of the Sitecom X4 N300 router. Click 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi at the top of the page. Then select Basic below that.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Sitecom X4 N300
On this page, the first setting that needs your attention is the SSID. This is the network ID and should be unique. Do not use personal information for security reasons. Check out our Wireless Name Guide for more info.
Under that is the Channel. Your channel should be set to 1,6, or 11. Find out why in our WiFi Channels Guide.
Once that's done, click the Apply button.
To navigate to the security page, click the Security tab at the top of the page.
This takes you to the page you see above.
First is the SSID Selection. Highlight the SSID you just created on the previous page.
Second, find the Encryption and set it to WPA pre-shared key.
Set the WPA Type to WPA2(AES). To understand what this is, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.
The Pre-Shared Key Type should be set to Passphrase.
The last setting that needs your attention is called the Pre-sharedKey. This is the network password. It is important that you make this strong. Use around 14-20 characters and don't forget some symbols, numbers, and capital letters to make it even stronger. More ideas can be found in this guide.
When you are finished making changes, hit the Apply button before you exit.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
