Setup WiFi on the SMC SMC8014WG

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The SMC SMC8014WG

  • Select Wireless in the left sidebar.
  • Then select Channel and SSID.

Change the WiFi Settings on the SMC SMC8014WG

Click the Apply button before continuing.

Back in the left sidebar click the option of Encryption.

On this new page use the Security drop down list to choose the best security option for your network. We strongly recommend using WPA2-PSK if available. Find out why in this guide. When you are finished, go ahead and click the Apply button to save your changes.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
