This guide shows you how to reset your TP-Link Archer C3150 router. This is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Rebooting a router is simply turning it off and back on again. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.
Warning: Since this erases everything you have done to the router, there are some things you need to consider first. The following settings in your router will be changed:
- The router's username and password are reset to factory defaults.
- All WiFi settings are reset, including network name and password.
- If your router has any ISP settings they will be removed, and you will have to contact your ISP.
- All port forwards, firewall settings, and parental controls that you have configured will be removed.
A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

If you are unable to recover your lost router password, then you may have to proceed with a full router reset.
Reset the TP-Link Archer C3150
Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. This is what a typical reset button looks like:
Reset buttons are usually tiny. Yours may look slightly different than this. You might find a pinhole on the back of the router that requires a paper clip to push the button hidden under it.
Watch the front panel lights while you hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds. You should notice that the blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router changes after a few seconds. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.
Remember, this will totally reset your TP-Link Archer C3150 router.
This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.
Login to the TP-Link Archer C3150
Once the reset is complete, you need to login to your router using the default IP address, username, and password. You can find all of the information that you need in our Archer C3150 Login Guide.
Change Your Password
Be sure to change your router's default password after you get logged back in. Since factory passwords are well known, it's a huge security risk to leave your router set to the default. If you need help coming up with a strong password, check out our Choosing a Strong Password guide.
Tip: Put your new password on a post-in note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
