You are now on the correct page to make wireless changes. The settings that need to be changed are as follows:

  • The Wireless Network Name(SSID) - This is the name you create in order to identify your network. Be creative and enter whatever you like here. The only thing to avoid is router and personal information. Learn more in this guide.
  • The Channel - This only needs to be changed if you are not on channels 1,6, or 11. Click this link to learn more.
  • The Wireless Security - We recommend setting this to WPA2-PSK only. This is by far the strongest security available right now. Learn more in this guide. If this router does not offer WPA2-PSK only then it is recommended that you update your firmware to a version that does allow this option.
  • You should at this point be asked for a password or pre-shared key. Check out this guide for more information.

When you are finished, click the Save button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
