Reset the TP-Link TD-W8950ND

This guide shows you how to reset your TP-Link TD-W8950ND router to factory default settings. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Every time your router loses power it reboots. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.

Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. The following settings in your router will be changed:

  • The router's login credentials are reset to factory defaults.
  • All WiFi information such as network name, password, and authentication method are erased.
  • If your router has any ISP settings they will be removed, and you will have to contact your ISP.
  • All parental controls, firewall settings, and port forwards will be removed.

Resetting your router should be considered the last step. You should be sure that you have tried to at least recover your router password using our Router Password Finder before resorting to a router reset.

Reset the TP-Link TD-W8950ND

On most routers you can find a small button on the back or the bottom labeled reset. Most reset buttons look like this:

Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.

Watch the front panel lights while you hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds. The blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router should change when the reset is complete. Do not worry about holding the button down too long; this is harmless.

Remember, this will totally reset your TP-Link TD-W8950ND router.

Login to the TP-Link TD-W8950ND

Change Your Password

Tip: Write your new password down on a note and tape it to the bottom of your router for future reference.
