Reset the TP-Link TL-WR841N v14

This guide shows you how to reset your TP-Link TL-WR841N v14 router to factory default settings. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.

Warning: Proceed with caution; resetting your router can be a major headache. The following settings will be changed in your router:

  • The router's login credentials are reset to factory defaults.
  • All WiFi login information and network names are reset.
  • Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. Before you reset your router you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Reset the TP-Link TL-WR841N v14

Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. A typical reset button looks like this:

Your reset button may look different, but usually they are very small. Sometimes the reset button is under a pinhole on the back of the router, and you need a paper clip to push it.

Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. Notice how the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When the lights do something different, the router is reset. It is harmless to hold the reset button too long.

Remember, this will erase everything you have previously done to this TP-Link TL-WR841N v14 router.
