Setup WiFi on the ZyXEL D1000 eircom

The wireless setup guide for the ZyXEL D1000 eircom router begins on the System Info page. Start off by clicking Network Setting located at the bottom of the page. Then back at the top of the page, choose General.

Change the WiFi Settings on the ZyXEL D1000 eircom

We'll start by setting an SSID. This will be your network name and can be anything you like. Enter your desired network name into the box marked Wireless Network Name(SSID). For more information regarding wireless network names, see our Wireless Names Guide.

Now for the Channel Selection. Be sure this is set to either 1, 6, or 11. Why is this important? Check out our WiFi Channels Guide to find out.

Now make sure the Security Mode is set to WPA2-PSK. This will provide you with the strongest security. Why? Read our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.

Finally you'll need to set a Password. This can be anything you like, though we recommend avoiding any personal information. If you need help choosing a strong password, take a look at our Choosing a Strong Password Guide for helpful tips.

And that's it! You're finished. Just make sure to click Apply before leaving the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
