Setup WiFi on the ZyXEL P 660HW T1

The ZyXEL P 660HW T1 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

This wireless setup guide starts off on the Status page of the ZyXEL P-660HW-T1-v3 eircom router. To begin configuring your wireless settings, click Network on the left hand side of the page. Below that, select Wireless LAN.

Change the WiFi Settings on the ZyXEL P 660HW T1

You should now be on the page you see above.

Start by clicking the radio button labeled Channel Selection and opening the drop down menu. From here, select either 1, 6, or 11. Why are these the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide to find out.

Now for the Network Name(SSID). This will be your network identification, and can be anything you like. However, we recommend avoiding any personal information due to security reasons. Fore more information, see our Wireless Names Guide.

Next open the drop down list labeled Security Mode and select WPA2-PSK. To learn why this will provide the strongest security, check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Finally you'll need to set a Pre-Shared Key. This is your network password and can be anything you like. However, a strong password consists of 14-20 characters and contains no personal information. For more tips on creating a strong password, take a look at our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

And that's all there is to it. Just be sure to click Apply before leaving the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
