Reset the ZyXEL VMG8924-B10D

This article covers how to reset the ZyXEL VMG8924-B10D router back to factory default settings. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Rebooting a router is simply turning it off and back on again. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.

Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. The following settings in your router will be changed:

  • The router's username and password are reset.
  • Your WiFi name and password are reset.
  • Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • All port forwards, firewall settings, and parental controls that you have configured will be removed.

Reset the ZyXEL VMG8924-B10D

There is usually a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. A typical reset button looks like this:

Your reset button may look different, but usually they are very small. Sometimes the reset button is under a pinhole on the back of the router, and you need a paper clip to push it.

Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and watch the lights. The blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router should change when the reset is complete. You can hold the button down as long as you like, it will not hurt anything.
