Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address
Port forwarding the Actiontec Q1000 Qwest to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.
Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.
Login To The Actiontec Q1000 Qwest
To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Actiontec Q1000 Qwest router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Actiontec Q1000 Qwest router
Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Actiontec Q1000 Qwest
You start on the Home page of the Actiontec Q1000 Qwest router. To forward a port, click the choice on the far right labeled Advanced Setup, it will be in red.
On the left, in the lighter blue sidebar, pick the option of Port Forwarding, this can be found under the main heading of Security.
Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Actiontec Q1000 Qwest
Now to forward a port, make the following changes:
On this new page, in the very first section, if you are forwarding a single port, enter that number in both the Starting Port and Ending Port boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of the range in the Starting Port box and the highest number of the range in the Ending Port box.
Below that is the Protocol drop down menu. Pick the type of protocol you want to use when forwarding these ports.
Lastly, enter the IP address of the device you are forwarding these ports to. For example if you are forwarding these ports to run a game on your PC, be sure to use that computers LAN IP Address here.
That's it, simply click the Apply button before you exit.
Test if Your Ports are Open
Now that you have forwarded ports on the Actiontec Q1000 Qwest you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
