Here on this page I will show you how to reset the Actiontec R3000 FibreOP router.

In this guide when I use the term reset I am referring to a complete factory reset of all settings. This is not the same thing as a reboot. A reboot is referring to turning off the device and turning it back on. A reset erases all settings, a reboot does not.

Warning: Every setting you have changed will need to be reconfigured after this reset is complete including:

  • The router's login username and password.
  • The WiFi SSID/network name and password.
  • Any ISP (Internet Service Provider) information that may be needed to use your local Internet.
  • All port forwarding, IP address changes, WiFi scheduling, etc...

Reset the Actiontec R3000

To reset this router you need to find the reset button. This is normally found on the back panel and is typically a tiny recessed button.

With the router on, take an unfolded paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process which can take several minutes to complete.

Warning: Do not interrupt the reset process. Turning off the router or unplugging it can cause permanent damage to the device.

Make sure you have exhausted all your other troubleshooting methods before continuing with this reset.

Tip: As long as this router is in a safe location, simply tape the username and password to the underside of the router so you don't lose this information.

Setup WiFi on the Actiontec R3000 FibreOP

Some routers leave the security open by default. This means there is no security on that connection. Follow the directions on my Actiontec R3000 FibreOP WiFi Instructions for a strong safe Internet connection.
