Setup WiFi on the ADB P RG A4202N

  • SSID Broadcast - If you enable this you are visible to your neighboring networks. If you disable this you are invisible to the neighboring networks, but not necessarily to a potential hacker with the proper scanning tools.
  • Security Mode - This is asking what type of security you want to use to secure your wireless transmissions. We suggest using WPA2. This is the strongest available today. For more information on the different security protocols check out our guide on WEP vs. WPA.
  • Encryption Mode - The choices are TKIP-AES or AES. TKIP has been cracked and AES has not. We recommend using AES.
  • WPA Passphrase. This is the key or password to your network. This is important to the security of your network. Don't skimp on this password. Make this password strong and seemingly random. Don't include personal information of any kind. Don't use words you can find in any known dictionary. Do use symbols, numbers, and capital letters.   • Wi-Fi Protected Setup. WiFi Protected Setup is an easy way in for a hacker. Turn this off.
  • When you are finished, click the Apply button.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
