Arris NVG595 Port Forwarding Instructions

This page will show you how to setup a port forward on the Arris NVG595 router.

Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Arris NVG595 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Arris NVG595

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Arris NVG595 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Arris NVG595 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Arris NVG595

After you have finished logging into the Arris NVG595 ATnT router you end up on the Status page of the interface. To forward a port on this router you first click the option of Firewall. Then under that in the submenu choose NAT/Gaming.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Arris NVG595

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You should now be on a page similar to the one you see here. Near the bottom of the page is a button called Custom Services, go ahead and click that button.

This takes you to the page you see above.

  1. Service Name - Enter something that will remind you of why you are forwarding these ports. What you enter here doesn't really matter, it's for your reference only.
  2. Global Port Range - If you are forwarding only one port, enter that number into both the left and right boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the left box and the highest number in the right box.
  3. Base Host Port - Enter the port you are forwarding in this box too.
  4. Protocol - Use the drop down list to choose the type of protocol you want to use while forwarding these ports.
  5. Add - Click the add button when you are finished.
  6. Return to NAT/Gaming - You need to assign the ports you just forwarded so click this button.

  1. Service - use the drop down list to choose the entry you just created on the previous page.
  2. Needed by Device - Use this drop down list to choose the device you are forwarding this port to.
  3. Add - Click this button to begin forwarding the port to the device.

Congratulations, you did it.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Arris NVG595 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
