In this guide we will cover how to reset the Articonet ACN-411RE router to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as rebooting the router. A reboot requires you to cycle the power by turning the device off and back on again. A reset is a little different. Resetting the router erases all your personal configurations and reverts them back to factory defaults.
Warning: Resetting your router is serious. Make sure you have exhausted other troubleshooting options before continuing. Consider the following:
- The router username and password are reset to factory default.
- The WiFi username and password are reset as well.
- If you use a DSL connection you will need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password
- Finally, everything you have changed to make this router yours will be erased. This could include any port forwards you created or maybe just an IP Address change

Use a VPN Instead
Have you considered using a VPN instead of forwarding a port? For most users, a VPN is a much simpler and more secure choice than forwarding a port.
We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.
When shopping for a VPN, make sure that they meet the following criteria:
- Your VPN provider should have a no-logs policy. This means that they do not keep any logs of any kind.
- Make sure that your VPN provider has lots of exit nodes all around the world.
- Check that your VPN will not affect your speed.
- Verify that your VPN provider uses WireGuard as the underlying protocol.
- Many people prefer a VPN provider that is not based in the United States.
This is the list of requirements that we used when we were shopping around for a VPN provider. There are lots of free, shady VPN providers out there that we looked at and dismissed.
Based in Panama, using diskless servers, and with over 6,100 servers in 61 countries, we can safely say that NordVPN satisfies all of these requirements.
Once you've set up your NordVPN account on multiple computers and enabled Meshnet, you can seamlessly access all of your devices as if they were on the same network. You don't even have to log in to your router. It's very simple.
Every time you click on one of our affiliate links, such as NordVPN, we get a little kickback for introducing you to the service. Think of us as your VPN wingman.
First, you need to make sure your Articonet ACN-411RE router is on. Make sure it does not get turned off or unplugged during the reset process. This could cause permanent damage to your device.
Second, locate the tiny reset button on the back panel of your router. The back panel looks something like the image below.
Using a sharpened pencil or pen press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds.
Remember this erases everything you have ever done to this router to personalize it. This should be done only if you have exhausted other trouble shooting methods.
Login to the Articonet ACN-411RE
Now you need to login to the Articonet ACN-411RE router using the factory default username and password. We have found these for you and included them in our Articonet ACN-411RE Login Guide.
Change Your Password
After you have finished logging into the router you should always change that password to something new. It really doesn't matter what you enter here but if you are having trouble check out this Choosing a Strong Password guide for assistance.
Tip: You can write this new password down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of your router for the next time you need to login.
Setup WiFi on the Articonet ACN-411RE
The final setting we recommend changing is the WiFi settings. The security has been reset along with everything else. Sometimes a router company leaves the router security open as the default. Change this to WPA2-PSK for the best form of security. For further assistance with this check out our How to Setup WiFi on the Articonet ACN-411RE guide.
