In this guide I will show you how to reset the Asus RT-N56UB1 router to factory defaults. When I use the term reset I am not referring to a reboot. If you want to reboot the router, simply turn it off, wait about 30 seconds then turn it back on. A reset erases all settings you have changed on the device and reverts it back to factory defaults.

Warning: All settings you have changed in the past are erased. This includes:

  • The router's username and password.
  • The WiFi username and password.
  • If you use DSL, you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your ISP for this information.
  • Any other settings such as IP addresses, port forwards, or schedules.
