How to Reset the Bandluxe R529

In this guide we discuss how to reset the Bandluxe R529 router. There is some confusion between resetting a router and rebooting a router. Rebooting a router is cycling the power by turning it off and back on again. Resetting a router is taking all the settings and returning them to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this Bandluxe R529 router can cause problems if you don't know what to expect. We suggest making a list of all the settings you know will change. This will include:

  • The router's interface username and password are returned to factory defaults.
  • The WiFi password, SSID, and security encryption are all returned to factory settings.
  • If you use a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. If you are unsure of this information check with your ISP.
  • All settings such as port forwards are erased.

Reset the Bandluxe R529

The first step is to locate the tiny reset button. This button is typically recessed on the back panel. Take a look at the image below.

While the Bandluxe R529 router is on, use a sharpened pencil or pen to press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds. Do not unplug or turn off the router during the reset process as that could cause permanent damage to the device.

Remember this erases all settings you have ever done to your router. Make sure to try other troubleshooting methods first.

Login to the Bandluxe R529

Change Your Password

Now you need to change that password to something new. It's never a good idea to leave a password as it's default. If you have trouble coming up with new passwords check out our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.

Tip: Once you create a new password go ahead and write it down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of the router for future reference.
