Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Belkin F7D1301 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Belkin F7D1301

Forward a Port on the Belkin F7D1301 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Belkin F7D1301

When you have finished logging into the Belkin F7D1301v1 you are taken to the Home Status page. On the left is a list of links, click the one labeled Virtual Servers, which is directly under the heading of Firewall.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Belkin F7D1301

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are now on the right page to do some port forwarding! In the first empty row of boxes, put a check in the box labeled Enable.

Next is the Description box. Enter the name of the program in this box. If you don't want to do that, it is not crucial what you enter here, but it would be a good idea to enter something that will remind you of why you are forwarding these ports.

If you are forwarding a single port, enter that number into the box labeled Inbound port and again in the Private port box. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the range in both of these boxes. Enter them in the format of lowest number - highest number, like 22-29.

The center box is labeled Type. Use the drop down menu provided to select the type of protocol you want to use to forward these ports.

Next, in the Private IP address box, enter the IP address that you are actually forwarding these ports to. For example if you are forwarding these ports to run a program on a computer, use that computer's IP address in that box.

When you have finished making all the changes, click the Add button and the Apply Changes button.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Belkin F7D1301 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
