Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address
Port forwarding the BT Home Hub 2 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.
Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.
Login To The BT Home Hub 2
To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your BT Home Hub 2 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the BT Home Hub 2 router
Find The Port Forwarding Section of the BT Home Hub 2
Beginning on the Home page of the BT BT-Home-Hub-v2 router, click the choice at the top of the page labeled Settings. A new menu now appears, pick Advanced Settings.
You are then directed to a confirmation page. Click Continue to Advanced Settings, found in the middle of the page.
At this point a new set of choices appears near the top of the page, in dark blue. Pick the link titled Application Sharing, then below that, Supported Applications.
Configure the Port Forwarding section of your BT Home Hub 2
Now to forward a port, make the following changes:
You are taken to a page that looks like the one you see above. On the right side of the page in a central location, click Add new game or application.
On this new page, in the box labeled Game/application name, enter the name of the program you are forwarding these ports for. This is only for your future reference.
Next, look a little farther down the page under the heading of Game or Application Definition, and use the Protocol drop down menu to choose the type of protocol you want to use while forwarding these ports.
If you are forwarding a single port, enter that one port number in:
- Both the Port Range boxes.
- Both Translate To boxes.
If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of the range in:
- The left Port Range box.
- The left Translate To box.
Enter the highest number of the range in:
- The right Port Range box.
- The right Translate To box.
Then, on the right side of the page, click the Add button.
Click Apply, found near the bottom of the page.
In the third menu at the top of the page, in dark blue, tick the link labeled Configuration.
This takes you to the page you see here.
The first box is a drop down menu titled Game or application. Use this drop down menu to find and highlight the application you just created on the previous page.
To the right of that is another drop down menu labeled Device. This menu provides a list of all the computers that are visible on your local network, highlight the computer that you want to forward these ports to.
Moving farther to the right, click Add.
Then, click Apply near the bottom of the page.
Congratulations, you forwarded a port!
Test if Your Ports are Open
Now that you have forwarded ports on the BT Home Hub 2 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
