Have you been trying to login to your router but been unsuccessful? It might be time to consider resetting the Calix 844G-1 router back to its original defaults.

There is a lot of confusion between a reset and a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the device. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them to factory defaults. This means every single setting you have ever changed is erased and returned to factory defaults.

Warning: Make sure you really want to reset the router before you do. Are you aware of what settings are changed? Make a list of any settings you think you may of changed in the history of this device. Some of these settings include:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The WiFi information including the SSID and network password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP or Internet Service Provider username and password. You need to contact your ISP for these details.
  • What other settings have you changed? How about port forwards or IP addresses? These are all erased.
