Setup WiFi on the Cisco Linksys E4200

The Cisco Linksys E4200 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Login To The Cisco Linksys E4200

The wireless setup guide for the Cisco Linksys-E4200 router begins on the Setup page. Start off by clicking Wireless near the top of the page. Then click Basic Wireless Settings just below that.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Cisco Linksys E4200

Now click Wireless Security near the top of the page.

First, open the drop down menu labeled Security Mode and select WPA2 Personal. To learn why this will provide you with the strongest security, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Lastly you'll need to set a Passphrase. This can be anything you like, however, keep in mind that a strong password consists of 14-20 characters and includes no personal information. For more helpful tips like these, check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
