How to Reset the Comtrend CT-5367

This guide covers how to reset the Comtrend CT-5367 router back to it's original factory default settings. This is not the same thing as a reboot. A router reboot will simply restart your system without making any changes. A reset takes every setting you have ever changed and returns it to how it was from the factory.

Warning: This reset is erasing every personal configuration you have ever made to your device. Make sure you understand this before continuing. We have made a partial list of the settings that will be changed.

  1. The router's main username and password are reverted to factory defaults.
  2. The Internet name and password are also reverted to original factory specifications.
  3. If you are using a DSL router you need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider username and password to use the Internet again. Call your ISP for this information.
  4. If you have made any other changes such as your IP address, or port forwards these are erased. You need to re-enter these after the reset is complete.

Reset the Comtrend CT-5367

The first step is to find the reset button. This button is small and recessed to avoid accidentally resetting your router. For this router it should be located on the back panel. We have circled it for you in the image below.

Take the end of an unwound paperclip or pin and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This starts the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it.

Remember this reset erases every personal change you have made to the router. We strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods first before you continue with the reset.

Login to the Comtrend CT-5367

Now is the time to reset the Comtrend CT-5367 router. Use the default values when doing this. This information can be found in the Comtrend CT-5367 Login Guide.

Tip: If the default values didn't work you may have not held the reset button down long enough. Try holding it down for a few additional seconds.

Change Your Password

Tip: It's very important that this password not be lost. One way to avoid this is to write it down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of the device for future reference.

You should then check on the wireless settings. These include the SSID, the Internet password, and the security method. We highly recommend using WPA2 along with a strong password to protect your Internet connection.
