Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Comtrend CT-5372 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Comtrend CT-5372

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Comtrend CT-5372 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Comtrend CT-5372 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Comtrend CT-5372

You begin on the Device Info page of the Comtrend CT-5372 router. To forward a port, click the choice in the left sidebar of the page labeled Advanced Setup. At this point a new menu appears, pick the new link titled NAT, then Virtual Servers.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Comtrend CT-5372

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

This takes you to the page you see above. Click the button titled Add.

You are now placed on a page that we, unfortunately, do not have a screenshot for.

On this new page, first place a dot in the radio button labeled Custom Service. To the right of that, enter the name of the program you are forwarding these ports for. This is not important to the process, but important for your future reference.

Under that is the heading of Server IP Address. Enter the IP address of the computer or device you are forwarding these ports to.

If you are forwarding a single port, enter that one port number in the boxes: External Port Start, External Port End, Internal Port Start, and Internal Port End.

If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the External Port Start, and Internal Port Start boxes. Enter the highest number of the range in the External Port End, and Internal Port End boxes.

Then, in the Protocol drop down menu, select the type of protocol you are going to use to forward these ports.

That's all there is to it, simply click Save/Apply before you exit this page.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Comtrend CT-5372 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
