On this page I will show you how to properly reset the Cradlepoint MBR1200 router back to it's original factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. A reboot is a cycle of power to the device. To manually do this you would unplug the power source, wait a bit, then turn it back on. This is done to solve minor behavioral problems you may be having with the Cradlepoint MBR1200. A reset takes all the settings you have ever changed and "forgets" them returning every one of them back to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router can be even more of a problem for you if you don't know what settings have been changed. We recommend making a list of the settings you have changed so you can reconfigure them later. Please consider the following:

  • The router's main username and password are reverted to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and passphrase are also reverted to factory defaults.
  • If you own a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your local Internet Service Provider for more details.
  • If you have ever made any other changes to this router you need to write these down because they will be gone after the reset is complete.

Reset the Cradlepoint MBR1200

The first step in a reset is locate the reset button. Luckily we have found it for you and circled it in the image below:

As you can see this button is quite small and indented in the panel itself. Take the end of a paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This starts the process which could take upwards of a minute to complete. If you don't hold this button down for the entire amount of time you could end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember a successful reset erases every setting you have ever changed. If you want to try and avoid that you need to try other troubleshooting methods first.
