Setup WiFi on the Cradlepoint MBR95

The Cradlepoint MBR95 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

WiFi Terms

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Cradlepoint MBR95

To get started configuring the Cradlepoint MBR95 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Cradlepoint MBR95

If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.

Once you've logged into the Cradlepoint MBR95 router you'll be taken to the Home page. Start out by clicking Basic Mode near the top of the page. This should change to Advanced Mode, taking you to a new page. From here click Network Settings. This will open a drop down menu. Click WiFi/Local Networks.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Cradlepoint MBR95

Begin by setting a WiFi Name (SSID). This will be your network identification and should include no personal information. To learn more check out our Wireless Names Guide.

Next open the drop down list labeled Security Mode and choose WPA2 Personal. This will provide you with the best security. Want to know more? Read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Now make sure that the WPA Cipher is set to AES.

Finally you'll need to set a WPA Password. This can be whatever you like, however it's important to remember that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. Congratulations! You're finished. Just be sure to click Submit before closing the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
