On this page I will show you how to reset the Dell SonicWALL TZ-150 router back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot your router you cycle the power to the device. This is done to solve minor problems such as an unresponsive router. To reset a router means to erase all previous settings and return them to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend making a list of the settings you know will be changed. Consider the following:

  • The main username and password for the router are reverted to factory defaults.
  • If you use a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your local Internet Service Provider for more information.
  • If you have ever made any other changes to your device you need to write these down so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

Take the tip of a pin or unfolded paperclip to press and hold the reset button down for at least 10 seconds to start the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough it will only reboot the router instead of resetting it.

Don't forget that this WILL erase every setting you have ever made to the router. To avoid that you should try other troubleshooting methods first.

Login to the Dell SonicWALL TZ-150

Now that you've reset your Dell SonicWALL TZ-150 router you'll need to log into it. Do this with the default username and password. Don't know what these are? We've got you covered. They're listed for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults don't seem to be working for you, don't panic quite yet. It may be because you didn't hold the reset button down for long enough.

Change Your Password

After that we recommend changing the default password. For help creating a strong password visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: To keep from losing your password try writing it on a sticky note and putting it on the bottom of your router.
