Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink AirPremier DI-784 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Dlink AirPremier DI-784

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Dlink AirPremier DI-784 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Dlink AirPremier DI-784 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Dlink AirPremier DI-784

This is the setup page from your Dlink AirPremier DI-784 router.

Starting on the Home page of the Dlink DI-784 router, click the tab near the top of the page titled Advanced.

This opens up a new set of choices on the left side of the page. Pick Virtual Server from this new list.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Dlink AirPremier DI-784

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

Tick the Enabled radio button.

It isn't really important what you enter in the Name box. We suggest entering the name of program here for future reference.

In the Private IP space, enter the internal IP address of the specific computer you are forwarding this port to. If you don't know how to find your computer's IP address, clicking the link of What is my IP Address takes you to our guide on how to find your computer's internal IP address.

Enter the port you want to forward in the Private Port box, and again in the Public Port box.

Next, set the Schedule to Always.

Once you are finished, click the green button labeled Apply.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Dlink AirPremier DI-784 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
