Setup WiFi on the Dlink DAP-1555-Bridge-Mode

Login To The Dlink DAP-1555-Bridge-Mode

To configure the WiFi settings, you begin on the System Settings page of theDlink DAP-1555-Bridge-Mode router. Click the link at the top of the page labeled SETUP. Then on the left pick the option of WIRELESS.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DAP-1555-Bridge-Mode

On this new page, you first need to change the Wireless Network Name. This is the name you give your network so that you can identify it later on. When creating this name, we suggest avoiding personal information. To learn more about this topic, read our Wireless Names Guide.

Uncheck the box labeled Enable Auto Channel Scan. Then below that use the drop down box labeled Wireless Channel to choose 1,6, or 11. These three channels are the most you can get out of the spectrum without overlap. To learn more, read our guide titled WiFi Channels.

Now, drop down to the Security Mode. From this drop down list, choose the option of WPA-Personal. To learn why this is the best choice for home networks, click the link titled WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Next is the WPA Mode. For the best security, choose WPA2 Only.

The Cipher Type should be set to AES. This is considered the most secure.

The last thing you need to do is the Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use to gain access to your network. It is also used to encrypt your private data. You need to create a strong password of at least 20 characters. Don't use personal information here. Don't use any real words either. That's all there is to it, just click the Save Settings button and you are finished.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
