How to Reset the Dlink DGL-3420

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Dlink DGL-3420 router back to the original factory defaults. It's important that you know the difference between resetting and rebooting a router. When you reboot a unit you cycle the power to the device. This is done manually by unplugging the power source, waiting about 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. When you reset a router you take all the settings on your device and return every one of them back to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router erases every single setting you have ever changed on your device. We recommend making a list of the settings you know about. Consider the following:

Reset the Dlink DGL-3420

The first step in any reset is to locate the physical reset button. This button has been found for you. Take a look at the image below.

Take an unfolded paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process. If you don't hold this button down for long enough you end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember this is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed. We recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before a reset is done.
