Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink DI-634M to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Dlink DI-634M

Forward a Port on the Dlink DI-634M router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Dlink DI-634M

This guide begins on the Home page of the Dlink DI-634M router. To forward a port, first, tick the option near the top of the page labeled Advanced. This creates a new set of choices in the left sidebar. Pick the option of Port Forwarding.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Dlink DI-634M

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are now on the Port Forwarding page of the Dlink DI-634M.

  1. Click the radio button of Enabled near the top of the page.
  2. Next is the Name box. Enter the name of the program you are forwarding these ports for.
  3. In the IP Address box, you need to enter the computer's IP address you are forwarding these ports to. If you are unsure of your computer's internal address, clicking the link What is my IP Address will take you to our guide on how to find your computer's internal IP address.
  4. Enter the ports you want to forward in the box labeled TCP Ports to Open. Enter those same port numbers in the UDP Ports to Open box. Ports can be entered a few different ways. You can enter them as a list, 22,25,27, or a range, 80-100, or mix the two up, 22,28,80-100
  5. The Firewall Rule should be set to Allow All.
  6. The Schedule should be set to Always.
  7. Click the green Apply checkmark when you are done.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Dlink DI-634M you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
