In this guide we explain how to reset the Dlink DIR-300 router back to it's original factory defaults. It's important that you know this is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you do a complete power cycle of the device. To do this manually you would unplug the power source, wait about 30 seconds then plug the power back in. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return every one of them back to factory defaults.

Warning: This means every single setting you have ever changed is reverted back to factory defaults. We recommend making a list of all the settings you have ever changed. Consider the following:

  • The router's setup username and password are reverted back to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are reverted as well.
  • If you use a DSL connection you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your local Internet Service Provider for the details.
  • Have you ever forwarded a port? Have you ever changed any IP address? These are all erased and reverted back to factory defaults.
