WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.
Wireless Password
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The Dlink DIR-300
To get started configuring the Dlink DIR-300 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DIR-300
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
The wireless setup guide for the Dlink DIR-300 router begins on the SETUP page. Start configuring your wireless settings by clicking Wireless Setup located on the left hand side of the page.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DIR-300
This takes you to the page you see above.
Click Manual Wireless Connection Setup near the bottom of the page.
You should now be on the page you see above.
Start out by checking the box labeled Enable Wireless.
Following that you'll need to set a Wireless Network Name. This can be anything you like, however we strongly recommend that you avoid any sort of personal information. To learn more be sure to take a look at our Wireless Names Guide.
Next open the drop down list marked Wireless Channel. Choose either 1, 6, or 11. To find out why these are the best options read our WiFi Channels Guide.
Now for the Security Mode. This needs to be set to Enable WPA2 Only Wireless Security (enhanced). This will provide you with the strongest security. Why? Check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.
The Cipher Type should be set to AES.
Set the PSK / EAP option to PSK.
Finally, in the box labeled Network Key enter your desired password. This can be whatever you want, however we recommend setting a strong password. Don't know what makes a password stronger? Fear not. We've got a guide to help you out.
Congratulations! You're done. Just be sure to save your settings before closing the page.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
