How to Reset the Dlink DWL-810

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Dlink DWL-810 router back to the original factory defaults. This reset is nothing like a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the device. To do this manually you would unplug the power cord, wait about 30 seconds, and plug it back in. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults. This means every setting you have ever changed on this device is erased and returned to how it was out of the factory.

Warning: Be careful a reset like this one is not to be taken lightly. We recommend creating a list of any settings you may have changed in the past. Take a look at the following to help you in creating this list.

Reset the Dlink DWL-810

The first step in a reset is to locate the reset button. This particular device has it located on the back panel of the device. Go ahead and take a look at the image below for a more exact location.

While the router is turned on take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process which could take a minute or two. If you don't hold the reset button down for the correct amount of time you may end up only rebooting the device instead of resetting it.

Remember this reset erases every setting you have ever changed on this device. To avoid this you should try other troubleshooting methods.

Login to the Dlink DWL-810

Now that you've reset your Dlink DWL-810 router you'll want to log into it. This is accomplished by using the default username and password listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Change Your Password

Once you've logged into your router we suggest setting a new password for it. This can be anything you like, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. Tip: Keep from losing your new password by writing it on a note and taping it to the bottom of your router.
