Setup WiFi on the Dlink DWL-G800AP

The Dlink DWL-G800AP router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Login To The Dlink DWL-G800AP

Find the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DWL-G800AP

This guide begins on the Setup Wizard page of the Dlink DWL-G800AP router. To configure the wireless click the blue tab at the top of the page labeled Wireless.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DWL-G800AP

On this new page, enter a new SSID. This is referring to the name you create so that you can identify it from the others around you. Be creative with this name but avoid personal information such as names. To read more about the SSID, read our Wireless Names Guide.

This firmware version only allows for WEP security. Don't use WEP. WEP is extremely weak with today's technology. Update your firmware version to allow for WPA2-PSK. Read our WEP vs. WPA Guide for more on this topic.

When you are finished, click the green Apply button.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
