Login To The Dlink DWL-G820v2

Find the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DWL-G820v2

We begin this guide on the Status page of the Dlink DWL-G820v2 router. To change your wireless network settings click the tab labeled Home near the top of the page. From there click Wireless in the left hand sidebar.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DWL-G820v2

Begin by setting the Channel. Open the drop down menu and choose either 1, 6, or 11. Want to know why these are the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide.

Following that you'll need to set an SSID. This will serve as your network name and can be anything you want it to be. However, due to security reasons we strongly suggest that you avoid the use of any personal information. For more on this subject be sure to visit our Wireless Names Guide.

Next is the Authentication. This needs to be set to WPA2-PSK. If this isn't an option we strongly recommend that you update your firmware. For more info check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

After that you'll need to set a Passphrase. This can be whatever you like, however keep in mind that a strong passphrase is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. For more help be sure to take a look at our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
