Here on this page I will show you how to reset the Edimax AR-7266WnA router back to it's original factory default settings. Before I do that however I need to explain the difference between a reset and a reboot. When I reboot a router I cycle the power to the unit. When I reset a router I take all the settings that have ever been changed and return them all to factory defaults.
Warning: This erases all settings you have changed. Don't do this unless you have exhausted your other options first. We highly recommend creating a list of settings you may of changed. Things to consider in your list are:
It is now time to find the reset button itself. On this router the reset button has a shared functionality with the WPS button. I have circled the button in the image below.
First of all the router must be on. Press and hold down the reset button for at least 10 seconds. If you don't hold the reset button down for the full 10 seconds you initiate the WPS mode. Your router will not reset if you start WPS. What is WPS
Don't forget a reset is going to erase every changed setting. We highly recommend trying other options of fixing the problem you're having before you reset.
After you've reset the Edimax AR-7266WnA router you'll need to log into it. Do this by using the factory default username and password provided for your use in our Login Guide.
Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.
Following that you'll need to set a new password for your router. This can be anything you want, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. For more help be sure to check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
Tip: Prevent yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
You can now start the reconfiguration process. Don't forget about the WiFi settings. For a great guide on this topic read our How to Setup WiFi on the Edimax AR-7266WnA page.
